Tumbling Class Descriptions

United Talent’s tumbling classes are designed to build upon one another. We begin with basic motor skills, body awareness and techniques with our youngest athletes establishing a strong foundation. These skills and techniques continue to develop as our athletes move up through our levels progressing up to multiple flipping and twisting skills. An overview of each class can be found below.

 REGULAR TUMBLING PROGRAM CLASSES

*All regular program classes are one hour at $55 per month

** An additional class is $25

Sub Beginner

Level 1 of tumbling, no experience or skills required. Elements focused on to include: basic positions; headstands, rolls, bridges, stretching and strength. Increasing balance, control and strength to build a foundation of technique for the upper levels.

Beginner

Level 2 of tumbling, must have all required level 1 skills proficient. Improving on inverted skills, bridge variations, preparations for limbers and backbends. Continued flexibility and strengthening to ensure safety and a strong foundation of technique.

Advanced Beginner

Level 3 of tumbling, must have all required level 2 skills proficient. Increasing abilities in limbers, back bends and kick overs independently. Beginning introductions to walkovers, round offs and back handsprings. Increase in strength exercises to ensure proper body positions and abilities for upper level skills to come.

Intermediate

Level 4 of tumbling, must have all required level 3 skills proficient. Working to gain independence in performing walkovers, back handsprings and connected round off back handsprings. Introductions io front handsprings, back handspring series, front and back tucks. With increased skill difficulty, higher focus on strength exercises and flexibility.

Advanced

Level 5 of tumbling, must have all required level 4 skills proficient. Strong focus on back handspring series standing and from a round off. Working on connecting back tucks and standing back tucks. Introduction to layouts, whips and front tucks on the floor. High focus on conditioning to keep the body strong and able as impact and difficulty of skills increase.

Elite

Level 6 of tumbling, must have all required level 5 skills proficient. Highest level of tumbling in which no skill is off limits. Focus is on whip-handspring connections, back layouts with twisting, front handspring front tuck connections and more. Conditioning to maintain a strong body while flipping is incorporated within each class.

Advanced/Elite Combo

Level 5 and 6 tumbling, must have all required level 4 skills proficient. Strong focus on back handspring series standing and from a round off. Working on connecting back tucks and standing back tucks. Introduction to layouts, whips and front tucks on the floor as well as whip-handspring connections, back layouts with twisting, front handspring front tuck connections and more. Conditioning to maintain a strong body while flipping is incorporated within each class.

 Boys 1-2

Level 1-2 of tumbling, no experience or skills required. Introductory and developmental combination class. Elements focused on will include: basic positions; headstands, rolls, bridges, stretching and strength all the way through inverted skills, bridge variations, preparations for limbers and backbends. Continued flexibility and strengthening to ensure safety and a strong foundation of technique.

 Boys 2-3

Level 2-3 of tumbling, must have all required level 1 skills proficient. Improving on inverted skills, bridge variations, abilities in limbers, back bends and kick overs independently. Beginning introductions to walkovers, round offs and back handsprings. Increase in strength exercises to ensure proper body positions and abilities for upper level skills to come.

 

SKILLS CLASSES

Back Handspring

This class is designed for and focused on the back handspring. Athletes will learn and perfect all aspects of the back handspring. The class will focus on both the standing back handspring and round off back handspring as well as back handspring series and round off back handspring series. Students who enroll in this class should be proficient in backbends and backbend kick overs and/or back walkovers.

Back Handspring- Dead Floor

This class is designed for and focused on the back handspring on the dead floor. Athletes will learn and perfect all aspects of the back handspring geared toward performing on a non-spring surface. It is a great preparation for those interested in tumbling for cheer specifically. The class will focus on both the standing back handspring and round off back handspring as well as back handspring series and round off back handspring series. Students who enroll in this class should be proficient in backbends and backbend kick overs and/or back walkovers.

Back Tuck

This class is designed for and focused on the tuck. Athletes will learn and perfect all aspects of the back tuck. The class will focus on both the running and standing tuck skills, both alone and in combination with other skills such as the round off and back handspring. Students who enroll in this class MUST be proficient in both the round off and back handspring.

Handspring/Tuck Combo

This class is designed for and focused on the back handspring and back tuck. Athletes will learn and perfect all aspects of the back handspring, back tuck. The class will focus on both the standing back handspring, back tuck, running round off back handspring, round off back tuck and combinations of back handspring and tuck skills. Students who enroll in this class should be proficient in backbends, backbend kick overs and/or back walkovers as well as round offs..
